The State of Kuwait contributes to building a new mosque in Ottawa
Dr. Musaed Al-Haroun, Kuwait’s Ambassador, has overseen laying the foundation stone of Ottawa’s second largest mosque which will accommodate more than 2000 prayers.
In a celebration held at the new site, attended by members of the Muslim community and Embassy staff, Dr. Al-Haroun said, “Kuwait’s financial contribution to the construction of the new mosque emanates from the directions of His Highness Sheik Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, in relation to supporting places of worship in Kuwait and abroad.”
The mosque is phase one of an Islamic Centre, the larger project, which would comprise in addition to the mosque, a library, a special area for Holy Quran recitation and teaching.
