Types of Legal Documents

 

Translated Documents

Translations of documents --As of January 1, 2009, translated documents must be sent with the original document. If the original is written in a foreign language, you must have the document translated into English and Arabic and then have it certified by a Canadian lawyer, solicitor, notary or commissioner of oaths. Please check the Department of Foreign Affairs website for further information.

The Embassy will legalize Legal documents that are certified by either of the following:

 

Legalized by the Province Government:

 

Ontario: Management Board of Cabinet.

Quebec: Secretary to the Chamber of Notaries.

Newfoundland and Labradors: Department of Justice.

New Brunswick: Office of the Lieutenant-Governor.

Prince Edward Island: Executive Council.

Nova Scotia: Government House- Barristers society.

Manitoba: Office of Lieutenant-Governor, Consumer and Corporate Affairs.

Saskatchewan: Office of Lieutenant-Governor.

Alberta: Alberta Department of Justice.

British Columbia: Office of Lieutenant-Governor, The Law Society of British Columbia.

Yukon: Yukon Department of Justice.

 

For residents of the City of Ottawa and its surroundings, you can certify all the documents at the Department of Foreign Affairs

 

Fees are - (Can $30.00) per document

  1. All documents must be notarized by a lawyer and stamped by the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. Department of Foreign Affairs (JLAC) - 125 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, ON K1A 0G2.
  2. Original copies will be stamped and returned.
  3. Photocopies required for our files.
  4. Fees must be paid by Canadian money order payable to The Embassy of Kuwait.
  5. If submitting in person Canadian money order or exact change in cash.
  6. Prepaid FedEx waybill or Purolator, UPS, DHL or Express post. Envelope must be enclosed inside for return. Clearly print your name, address, phone number and courier account number for return.
  7. If lodging documents in person to the Embassy this should be done between the hours 9:00a.m and 12:30p.m.
  8. You will be contacted once the documents are ready for pickup.

General Power of Attorney

 

IN PERSON FOR KUWAITI CITIZENS ONLY

  1. One piece of identification (Passport or Civil Identification)..
  2. Applicants living in Ottawa and surroundings MUST come to the Embassy to sign the General Power of Attorney, no translation required if you appear in person at the Embassy.
  3. Two witnesses are required to sign General Power of Attorney.
  4. The amount of $30.00 cash per applicant.
